Frankfurt's Best Hotel Bars for a Stylish Evening
From the Autorenbar to Jimmy's Bar: five hotel bars in Frankfurt that are perfect for a date, plus three insider tips and advice for a successful evening.
Updated: September 2026 8 min read
In town for a trade fair or a round of meetings in the banking district? When the working day is over, Frankfurt's hotel bars are some of the best places in the city to spend the evening. The lighting is low, the service attentive, and nobody looks twice when two people meet here for the first time.
We have picked five hotel bars that work well for a date, a drink after a business dinner or a quiet evening for two, from classic and discreet to glamorous. For each bar, we sum up what guests praise and criticise in their reviews. At the end, you will find three insider tips for a second evening.
Which bar suits which evening?
- A first meeting: the Autorenbar or Lili's Bar, which opens in the afternoon
- A late evening after dinner or the trade fair: Jimmy's Bar, open until 3 am
- When conversation comes first: Marmion Bar
- Glamour and energy: Roomers Bar, where smoking is allowed
- Something unexpected: our insider tips
Autorenbar at the Steigenberger Icon Frankfurter Hof
Kaiserplatz, city centre
The Frankfurter Hof is the city's classic grand hotel: opened in 1876, it celebrated its 150th anniversary in summer 2026. The Autorenbar is its calm heart, serving afternoon tea during the day and, from 6 pm, classic cocktails, fine whiskies and champagne. During the Frankfurt Book Fair, it is a traditional meeting place for authors and publishers.
The atmosphere is timeless without feeling stiff, which makes it a safe choice for a first meeting or a nightcap after a day in the banking district, just a few minutes' walk away.
Lili's Bar at the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera
Opernplatz, city centre
The bar is named after Lili Schönemann, the Frankfurt banker's daughter who was once engaged to Goethe, and its cocktail menu is inspired by the poet. A fireplace, comfortable armchairs and an eight-metre counter make it feel more like an elegant living room than a typical hotel bar.
The German restaurant guide Schlemmer Atlas included Lili's Bar in its selection of Germany's 50 best hotel bars for 2026.
Jimmy's Bar at the Taj Hessischer Hof
Friedrich-Ebert-Anlage, opposite the trade fair grounds
For around sixty years, Jimmy's Bar was the living room of the Hessischer Hof. During trade fairs, business people, celebrities and night owls met here, and guests included Helmut Schmidt, Udo Lindenberg and the Rolling Stones. After eventful years with several closures, the legend has been back since April 2026, in the newly opened Taj Hessischer Hof. Apart from a new carpet, it has stayed just as regulars remember it. Behind the bar is Emmanuel Saridakis, who previously mixed drinks for more than twenty years at the former Harry's New York Bar in the Main Plaza.
Jimmy's is the bar for late hours: open Tuesday to Saturday from 8 pm to 3 am, with classic cocktails at 15 to 22 euros. Ideal for rounding off a dinner or a long day at the trade fair.
Marmion Bar
Lindleystrasse, Ostend
Marmion sits on the fifth floor of the lyf East Frankfurt hotel (formerly the Lindley Lindenberg), but it is anything but an ordinary hotel bar. Its owners run it with a strong personal touch: dimmed lights, wicker chairs, a roof terrace overlooking the city and a list of around 150 wines and champagnes, alongside reinterpreted cocktail classics. Marmion is also among Schlemmer Atlas's top 50 hotel bars.
This is the place when conversation should be the focus: quiet enough to really talk, distinctive enough to remember.
Roomers Bar
Gutleutstrasse, Bahnhofsviertel
The most glamorous address on this list. Burlesque charm in black and gold, chandeliers and small private booths around the bar recall the bars of the 1920s. In 2016, it won the Mixology Award for hotel bar of the year; today it is among Schlemmer Atlas's top 50 hotel bars and still draws a well-dressed international crowd.
From 10 pm a DJ plays every night, and the room gets livelier and louder. Roomers is ideal for a second date or an evening that is meant to feel a little more special.
Three insider tips for a second evening
If you already know the classics, these three hotel bars offer something unexpected. All three are also on Schlemmer Atlas's top 50 list.
French Bento Bar at the Ameron Neckarvillen
Neckarstrasse, Bahnhofsviertel
French elegance meets Japanese restraint: a neon work by artist Tobias Rehberger glows above the counter, and the menu features signature drinks and highballs with Japanese aromas. Guests praise the cosy atmosphere and bartenders who tailor drinks to your taste. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 5 pm to midnight.
Shuka Bar at the 25hours Hotel The Trip
Niddastrasse, Bahnhofsviertel
Not to be confused with Bar Shuka, the restaurant in the same building: hidden behind it is the Shuka Bar, a speakeasy for no more than fifteen guests. Its design is inspired by historic opium dens, with dim light, a solid wooden bar and photographs by Nobuyoshi Araki. It serves sake, Japanese whiskies and sake drinks. Open Wednesday and Thursday from 7:30 pm to 1 am, Friday and Saturday from 9 pm to 3 am. With so few seats, it pays to arrive early.
Ruby Louise Rooftop
Neue Rothofstrasse, city centre
Named after Louise von Rothschild, the bar blends Biedermeier flair with street art. Its highlight is a roof terrace of around 400 square metres with fruit trees, loungers and a view of the skyline, perfect for warm summer evenings. The bar on the sixth floor is open around the clock, and Wednesdays usually bring an Italian aperitivo night.
How to make the most of your evening

Book ahead. On Fridays, Saturdays and during big trade fairs, the best-known bars fill up quickly. A quiet table makes all the difference. The exception is Jimmy's Bar, which does not take reservations, so arrive early.
Hotel bars are open to everyone. You don't need to stay at the hotel to visit any of the bars in this guide.
Choose the right time. For a first meeting in the early evening, the Autorenbar and Lili's Bar are ideal. If you want to end the night late, Jimmy's Bar is the place.
Think of non-smokers. Smoking is allowed at Roomers. If you don't know how your date feels about it, choose a smoke-free address for your first meeting.
Dress for the room. Smart casual works almost everywhere. At the Frankfurter Hof, the Sofitel and Jimmy's Bar you can go a little more elegant, and at Roomers a little bolder.
Pair drinks with dinner. A proven sequence: meet for a drink, move on to dinner, then return to the bar for a nightcap. For more ideas, see our date companionship in Frankfurt.
