Best Bars in Frankfurt for a Date: 5 Picks and Hidden Gems
Logenhaus, Rote Bar, Yaldy and more: five Frankfurt bars for a date, with guest reviews, key facts, three hidden gems and advice for a discreet first meeting.
Updated: September 2026 11 min read
A date in a good bar has one big advantage: it can go wherever the evening takes it. A drink is easy to arrange, the lighting is low, and whether the first glass turns into a second and then into dinner is something you decide together. Beyond its well-known hotel bars, Frankfurt has plenty to offer: hidden salons, bars behind an unmarked doorbell, award-winning cocktail restaurants and a view from almost 200 metres up.
We have chosen five bars that rank among the city's best in 2026 and work well for a date, ordered from quiet to lively. For each one, you will find the key facts at a glance and a summary of what guests praise and criticise. After that come three hidden gems and advice for a discreet first meeting. Classic hotel bars such as Jimmy's Bar and the Roomers Bar have their own guide: Frankfurt's best hotel bars.
Which bar suits which evening?
- A quiet first meeting: the Logenhaus salon, with a reservation midweek
- Something mysterious: Die Rote Bar, where you ring the bell to be let in
- Drinks and dinner in one place: Yaldy, recognised by the Michelin Guide
- A lively second date: Hunky Dory
- A grand entrance with a view: the NFT Skybar on the 47th floor
- Wine instead of cocktails, or something brand new: our hidden gems
- A discreet meeting: our advice on choosing a bar
Logenhaus Nacht- und Gartensalon
Finkenhofstrasse, Nordend
One of Frankfurt's most charming bars occupies a townhouse in the residential Nordend district that is still home to a Freemasons' lodge. Ring the bell and you step into a 1920s-style salon: brocade wallpaper, dark antiques, velvet armchairs and smartly dressed bartenders. The menu covers classic cocktails (including alcohol-free versions), changing signature drinks, fine wines, champagne and a large gin selection. From May to October, a partly covered garden salon with a pavilion bar opens as well. In 2026, the local restaurant guide "Frankfurt geht aus" ranked the Logenhaus first among the city's classic bars.
The hushed salon atmosphere makes it the first choice for a meeting where conversation comes first. And because it sits on a quiet residential street, you are unlikely to bump into colleagues from the banking district.
Die Rote Bar on the Mainkai
Mainkai, Altstadt (old town)
From the riverside street, there is barely a hint that a bar is here. Ring the bell and a bartender in a white jacket collects you at the door and leads you into a dark room bathed in red light: vintage furniture, paintings on the walls, a good whisky selection and cocktails where craft matters more than show. In 2025, Frankfurt's Top Magazin placed the "Red Bar" first among the five best classic bars in Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region.
The ritual at the door and the discreet setting make it feel like a small secret, an ideal backdrop for a date you want to remember. Afterwards, the River Main is right outside for a walk along the embankment.
Yaldy in the Bahnhofsviertel
Moselstrasse, Bahnhofsviertel (station district)
Yaldy combines a cocktail bar with creative cooking and is one of the most exciting addresses in the city. Co-founder Michele Heinrich, previously head bartender at the now-closed Kinly Bar, became the first bartender in Germany to receive the Michelin Guide's Cocktail Award in June 2025. At the 2026 Mixology Bar Awards, Germany's leading bar industry awards, Yaldy was shortlisted for restaurant bar of the year, and "Frankfurt geht aus 2027" ranks it first among the city's upscale "eat and meet" venues. The menu features small plates to share, such as crudo or tartare, alongside signature cocktails and a well-chosen wine list.
It is ideal for a date when you would rather not split drinks and dinner between two places: start with an aperitif and keep ordering as the evening unfolds. The open kitchen and lively crowd create atmosphere without drowning out conversation.
Hunky Dory
Baseler Strasse, Bahnhofsviertel
Founded in 2016 by Armin Azadpour, another Kinly alumnus, and named after the David Bowie album, Hunky Dory has a 1920s-inspired interior and vintage telephones on the tables that let guests call each other. The illustrated menu is regularly refreshed with seasonal drinks and includes some serious alcohol-free creations. At the 2026 Mixology Bar Awards, the team was longlisted for bar team of the year.
This is the right choice for a second date, when the evening can be a little more playful. Later on, it gets busy and lively, so arrive early if you want a quiet conversation.
NFT Skybar at the ONE tower
Brüsseler Strasse, Europaviertel
On the 47th floor of the ONE tower, around 185 metres above the city, you will find one of Frankfurt's highest bars, accessed via the entrance of the nhow hotel. The view sweeps across the entire skyline, and seats at sunset are especially sought after. The bar pairs cocktails with digital art, and the menu includes plenty of alcohol-free drinks.
The Skybar is the place for a grand entrance: a second or third date, a celebration, or an evening with visitors you want to show the city from above.
Three hidden gems off the beaten track
If you already know Frankfurt's bar scene, these three offer something new: a speakeasy, a wine bar overlooking the European Central Bank and the city's newest skyline bar.
Bar Chroma
Gutleutstrasse, Bahnhofsviertel
Behind an inconspicuous door with a bell, Quy Long Tran, yet another former Kinly bartender, opened his own bar in spring 2025. Warm lighting and comfortable corners give it a living-room feel, and the changing menu focuses on signature drinks with Asian influences. At the 2026 Mixology Bar Awards, Chroma was longlisted for new bar of the year. Guests praise bartenders who happily mix to your preferences, while some find the music too loud later in the evening. Open Thursday to Saturday from 7 pm to 2 am, Sunday and Monday until 1 am. Instagram: @chroma.ffm
Wine & Bubbles
Horst-Schulmann-Strasse, Ostend
A wine bar with its own wine shop, large windows facing the European Central Bank and a small garden. "Frankfurt geht aus 2027" ranks it fourth among the city's best wine bars. Guests highlight the warm, knowledgeable advice (you are welcome to taste several wines before choosing), fair prices and tarte flambée. The atmosphere is calm and unpretentious, ideal for conversation. Open Wednesday and Thursday from 5 pm to 11 pm, Friday and Saturday from 3 pm to midnight. Website: wine-and-bubbles.de
20 High Skyline Bar
Europa-Allee, Europaviertel
The city's newest bar with a view opened in September 2026 at the new Atlantic Hotel Frankfurt. On the 20th floor, 64 metres up, it seats 100 guests with views of the skyline. Bar manager Mo Kaba focuses on cocktails with Japanese-inspired flavours. Because the bar is so new, there are only a few reviews so far, all of them very positive. It is a quieter alternative to the NFT Skybar, and you can enquire about a table by phone or email via the hotel. Website: 20high-frankfurt.de
Meeting discreetly: how to choose the right bar
Whether it is a blind date, a match from a dating app or an evening with a companion, when you meet someone for the first time, what matters most is that you both feel at ease. These points will help you choose.

Somewhere to talk. Pick a bar where you can hold a conversation without raising your voice. The Logenhaus, Die Rote Bar and Wine & Bubbles are the best options. Hunky Dory and Bar Chroma get louder later in the evening.
A table of your own. With a reservation, you won't have to stand side by side at the bar looking for seats. The Logenhaus takes bookings on Wednesdays and Thursdays, Yaldy online. The NFT Skybar does not take reservations, so it only works for a first meeting early in the evening.
Be there first. Arrive a few minutes early and let your date know where you are sitting. This matters most at bars with a doorbell, such as Die Rote Bar and Bar Chroma.
Away from the office towers. If you would like some privacy, avoid the after-work spots around the banking district on weekdays. The Logenhaus in the Nordend and Wine & Bubbles in the Ostend are pleasantly out of the way.
Neutral and easy to reach. A bar with a clear meeting point and easy taxi access keeps the start and end of the evening simple. If you are staying at a hotel, our guide to Frankfurt's best hotel bars has options right under your roof.
How to make the most of your date

Start early. Between 7 and 8 pm, most bars are still quiet. It is easier to get a good seat, and the staff have time to make a recommendation.
Plan midweek. Wednesday and Thursday are particularly good for a date: the bars are pleasantly busy but not packed, and reservations are easier to get.
Think of non-smokers. Smoking is allowed in some Frankfurt bars. If you don't know how your date feels about it, ask for a non-smoking area when you book.
Dress for the room. Smart casual works almost everywhere. At Die Rote Bar and the Logenhaus you can go a little more elegant, and the NFT Skybar has a smart casual dress code.
Pair drinks with dinner. A proven sequence: a drink to get to know each other, dinner together, then back to a bar for a nightcap. If you would like both under one roof, Yaldy is the place.
